July Useletter – Bikenridge.com

Hi All,

Summer is in full swing in Breckenridge! July has so much going on that even if you pop into town for a short weekend there will be SOMETHING to do!  I will be happy to give you my 2cents on what I think you should check out this month and then be sure to check in on Facebook & Twitter as much as possible to get that latest on the Breckenridge Biking chatter in realtime.

As most of you know, Bikenridge.com was launched online May 23rd with a fun-filled day of social media, videos, Bike humor and blogging.  The “real life” Bikenridge Launch was on June 21st (most of you were invited).  Thank you to all who joined in the fun! It was a great evening with a Breckenridge Cruiser ride, music & photo booth by Hampton Entertainment, free beer from the Breck Brewery and a yummy Taco Bar from Mi Casa!   Here is a little video peek at the night.

Calendar of July Events
I look forward to and dread July in Breckenridge for all of the same reasons.

Despite the summer afternoon storms we have the perfect temps and sunshine for everything, but especially riding.  Avoid the crowds, throw on that jacket and get out early.  The jacket will be in your backpack soon enough and you will be home before the masses get out and the storms kick in. Then you have all afternoon and evening to enjoy everything Breck has to offer!

The Firecracker 50 is the mountain bike race of the summer! Be part of the Breck Fourth of July celebration. Where else can racers lead the vibrant Fourth of July Parade on historic Main Street? Be a racer, a volunteer or just ride the course.

The Breck 100, July 12th, is an off-road ultra endurance race. The course climbs 13,719 feet over 100 miles. It is an amazing course with incredible vistas, grueling climbs, fun downhills. It starts and finishes right in Breckenridge. Here is a peek at the course – are you up for it?

Women’s Wednesdays Mountain Bike Mondays – I can’t speak more highly of these women only weekly Group Rides and the amazing ladies who run them. If you are in Breck during the week and would like an infuse of “Girl Power” check these out.

If you don’t want to navigate the rides or course by yourself check Breck Bike Guides …

Volunteer!
A great way to get friends & family into the forest for a day and give back to the trails you love.  The Turk’s Trail connection to Sallie Barber project (July 26 & 27th) is a big one.  In July, three of the best are coming together to get this project completed and they would love your help.  Friends of Breckenridge Trails, Volunteer Outdoor Colorado and Summit County Open Space.

Don’t have all day? Check out the Friends of The Dillon Ranger District – Twilight Projects (5:30 – 8:00pm) in July. Presented by Maverick Sports Promotions. Good energy and lots of locals at these projects.

Smile!
I am always looking for cool items, fun website and great ideas to brighten my day and I wanted to share with you a few I found.  I was super impressed Henry Boyd’s Breck Kids Rides website. I might try to hiring this kid. 🙂 Check out these Super unique Cycling Kits – Shannon Galpin’s quest for the Afghan Women’s Cycling Team

Finally, I would love to hear from you with comments, suggestions and ideas. I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy day to read this useletter and want to make it information you look forward to reading.

Get out and enjoy it!
