When road-tripping to a mountain bike destination, the first thing on the agenda is to look for a good ride. Even in well known, well marked bike towns, sometimes this task can get a little tricky.
Sydney Fox & Nick Truitt of Breck Bike Guides saw an opportunity in their experience. “Nick and I were traveling around the country racing and training. We would head out for a pre-ride or a training ride and we’d find ourselves lost in the woods over and over.”
“Each time we returned home, we realized visitors must feel the same way about our trails, so we decided to create a guiding service to showcase some of the best trails the country has to offer.” Sydney Fox, Professional Cyclist, Skier and Entrepreneur is beyond busy getting ready for the up coming cycling season.
They are currently building out a new 2000 sqft. store at 411 S. Main Street in Breckenridge. It’s a total remodel with 145 sqft. dedicated to a service center and indoor bike wash. They will hold spin classes, bike fits, power testing and offer open studio time. You will also find your favorite riding attire in their retail section … including the new POC road line. “It’s incredible,” says Fox.
Within all of the craziness, Sydney has a lot to smile about, “…each time we come home we still find the best trails right out our door. Scott Reid along with Troy Heflin and their crews have created this incredibly huge network of world-class trails. We can’t wait to get out and fly down Slalom or check out the new Barney Ford flow trail.”
As well as … “Our little Sam dog. Nick and I run the bike test for Mountain magazine and our first year organizing it, we show up to the historically male-only test with a girl and a dog. I could just feel the eye-rolling happening (even though I was actually the one who was running the test and they asked Nick to come along). After our first ride, the guys couldn’t stop gushing about how incredible Sam was on the trail. Gapping rollers, running faster when they asked her to, and yielding to the correct side when they yelled out, “on your left!” She came away from that weekend with the nickname: the one-eyed wonder dog, and we couldn’t agree more. She reminds us to smile and give unlimited hugs and kisses each day, even on the days when we can’t think straight because we have so much to do.”
Sydney & Nick will be opening their new shop in June. “That’s really exciting, we’d love to have everyone stop by to say hi and check out the new space.” They are also hosting the USA Pro Challenge Community Ride on June 22nd at 9:00am. It is open to the public and will leave from their shop at 411 S. Main Street #12.
